After reading the title of this article then you more than likely read the word anarchy and have images of black masks, Molotov cocktails and burning cars in rolling through your head. You can thank decades of intentional and unintentional misuse of the word by the Empire and its citizens. Now most people equate anarchy with destruction and chaos, instead of the philosophy of voluntary associations and interactions that it actually is. By definition Anarchism is a political philosophy and movement that is skeptical of all justifications for authority and seeks to abolish institutions it claims maintain unnecessary coercion and hierarchy over the individual.
Lets take a look at the points below….
1 – All people are created equal.
2- All people have individual rights.
3 – All interactions between people should be voluntary
No one has the right….
1 – To harm you.
2- To threaten you,
3- To steal from you.
4- To violate your rights
Everyone has…
1 – The right to liberty – We can do what we want, as long as we do not
violate the rights of others.
2 – The right to self-defense – We can defend ourselves, our property,
and our individual rights,
3- The right to own and carry weapons – So we have the ability to
defend ourselves, our property, and our rights.
4- The right to self-ownership – We own ourselves. No one can claim
even partial ownership over you without violating your rights,
5- The right to free speech – We can communicate our opinions and
ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship.
6- The right to privacy – No one has the right to violate our privacy.
Any law that violates our rights is null and void. Anyone that violates
our rights is a criminal.
If any of these resonates with you then congratulations, you believe in the importance of individual rights and your more anarchist than you might think. Both primary political parties disagree with most of these points whether they openly state it or not. At least that it should only apply to certain people mainly them selves, their parties, or the Empires “elites.” The Empire fixates and points to a small percentage of the anarchist in the world that commit violence because anarchists are essentially running on the platform that the Empire’s systems are not only unnecessary but in most cases more harmful than helpful.
Both sides of the political isle like to talk about if founding fathers were alive today they would be on our side, but If you looked at the founding fathers beliefs at the time they would be defined closer to anarchists today than they would democrat or republican. They also just wanted to be left alone to live their lives the way they saw fit. They were very against government especially big government and believed that it will always be a coercive organization whether it was a monarchy, a democracy, or a republic it didn’t matter. That’s is the basis of anarchist thought. You need only look at the articles of confederation and the bill of rights to see that. The articles of confederation for those that don’t know were the original governing documents for the United states government that were far more restrictive on what the federal government could do before the Constitution replaced them. As smart as the founding fathers were they couldn’t even imagine the behemoth conglomerate of corporations governments, private institutions, monopolies and so called “elite” individuals that would become the Empire of Nothing Or the citizens who would willingly sign up for that which the founding fathers feared most for the simple benefit of a little convenience.
Now on to the American Icon
The rattle snake…. nope not the eagle.
The rattle snake has been an American Icon since the American revolution and has been donned by many groups from militias to motorcycle clubs, Law enforcement and military units a like ever since. The rattle snake was even written about by Benjamin Franklin in an originally anonymous letter written to the Pennsylvania Journal on December 27, 1775 which in part read.
I observed on one of the drums belonging to the marines now raising, there was painted a Rattle-Snake, with this modest motto under it, “Don’t tread on me.” As I know it is the custom to have some device on the arms of every country, I supposed this may have been intended for the arms of America … the ancients considered the serpent as an emblem of wisdom, and in a certain attitude of endless duration – both which circumstances I suppose may have been had in view. Having gained this intelligence, and recollecting that countries are sometimes represented by animals peculiar to them, it occurred to me that the Rattle-Snake is found in no other quarter of the world besides America, and may therefore have been chosen, on that account, to represent her. I recollected that her eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids. She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance. She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. As if anxious to prevent all pretensions of quarreling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenseless animal; and even when those weapons are shown and extended for her defense, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal. Conscious of this, she never wounds ’till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.
Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America?
In short snakes have been seen as symbol of wisdom throughout history. Rattle snakes keeps to themself, wants to be left alone but is also dangerous and after good warning is not afraid to defend it self wholeheartedly if tread on.
This should be something that all men aspire to. To live their life as independently and as free as possible. To understand individual rights and not infringe on the rights of others, to be knowledgeable, physically fit and to be able to defend themselves and their tribes if necessary, both physically but perhaps more importantly legally. However strong enough and with enough wisdom to keep their skills reserved only for when they are truly needed.
